Low Maintenance
More Free TimeIf there is one thing most of us can agree on, it's the desire for more free time. Youngquist Homes can help you find some of that extra time because we carefully select products that require little or no maintenance. Below are a few examples: Brick and Stone on All Exterior SidesIn our GreyHawk Landing new homes, for example, Youngquist Homes uses brick and stone on all sides of our homes. Other builders might only include brick and stone on the front elevation, using a significant amount of Hardie siding, cedar or other products on the sides and rear elevations. These other products require homeowner maintenance. Although the other siding materials may cost less to install, we choose brick and stone because a low-maintenance exterior offers more value and fewer hassles for our customers. Minimal Maintenance WindowsYoungquist Homes installs minimal maintenance windows. Low-conductance materials such as upgraded synthetic window frames simply perform better and provide better energy efficiency in addition to easier care requirements. Most other builders are still using wood sash windows; mostly because this is the way they have always done it. Two of our four window suppliers don't even carry wood windows anymore. This is indicative of the change in consumer preference for synthetic material windows and doors that feature these advantages. Wood Trim AlternativesYoungquist Homes chooses synthetic boxing, fascia, soffit, brick molding and garage door trim. In fact, nothing on the outside of a Youngquist Home is wood. We use aluminum and synthetics such as PVC or vinyl to limit typical home maintenance chores. We've carefully evaluated and selected these high-quality products for use in the homes we build at GreyHawk Landing as well as our luxury townhomes at Tryon Villas, Lions Gate, and CharlesTownes. Synthetic DeckingWhile some luxury builders in the Triangle are beginning to use synthetic decking, others are still using wood and painted wood rails. Youngquist Homes uses the best quality synthetic for our decking, columns and beams. In fact, we have been using synthetic decking materials for more than 10 years. For long-lasting durability and low-maintenance requirements, it simply makes good sense... especially in North Carolina. Extremely durable synthetic decking is a popular alternative to potentially harmful chemically treated woods. Made from reclaimed wood fibers and pure plastic resins, composite decking and railing offers splinter-free surfaces that eliminate the frequent application of environmentally harmful paint, sealers and stains. Railing AlternativesYoungquist Homes prefers aluminum railing to wood or wrought iron railing. We select a pleasing powder coated aluminum railing on our decks, walkways and steps. This product can last as many as 15 years without painting or rust. To achieve that same just-installed appearance, wood deck railing will require painting every year and can twist and warp with sunlight. Garage Door AlternativesYoungquist Homes uses synthetic or enamel coated steel Carriage style garage doors. We have been using wood alternative garage doors for years. They are lighter weight, can be painted to match trim materials and have the European look our buyers desire. These doors last and never need to be replaced due to rotting wood panels, reducing maintenance requirements. |
